Data sources
RigRoute Market maintains its own normalized hardware catalog. Here's how it's built.
Principles
- We use manufacturer and clearly permitted/open/licensed sources for specifications.
- Provenance is recorded per product where possible.
- Missing specifications are never fabricated — they're shown as unknown.
- Prices come from authorized retailer/feed sources once in place. We don't claim complete retailer coverage during beta.
- A source that doesn't meet our provenance/license bar is disabled — not just deprioritized.
Active catalog sources
- BuildCores Open DB — CPU, GPU, motherboard, RAM, storage, PSU, case, cooling, network cards. License: ODC-By-1.0 (attribution required).
- docyx pc-part-dataset — same categories, broader coverage. License: MIT.
- Compute Specs DB — server/workstation CPUs (Xeon, EPYC). License: MIT.
- Ubiquiti Tech Specs — the manufacturer's own published specifications for network hardware (gateways, switches, access points, accessories).
Prices and retailers
During beta, product pages don't yet show live prices for every product. Retailer integrations (including CompuMail) are being added progressively as feed or affiliate agreements are approved. We never fetch retailer prices by methods that circumvent a retailer's published access controls.
